Morning Matcha Turmeric Smoothie

It’s been warming up these days so that means my mornings call for some icy cold smoothies. I get excited each morning to try a different kind of smoothie and lately I’ve been getting a dose of matcha and turmeric in this Matcha Turmeric Anti-Inflammatory Smoothie

What makes this anti-inflammatory? Well, curcumin is a natural active compound that is contained within turmeric. I actually also take curcumin supplements each morning as a part of my morning routine. When you’re looking to get an extra boost of anti-inflammatory properties in your food, I think it’s always important to look at the ingredients of what you are eating. I’ve lately been seeing so many products that say “turmeric” on the label because it’s such a trend right now but if the other ingredients in the product are sugar/syrup, and other inflammatory ingredients and additives, it sort of negates the awesome benefits of turmeric, ya know? In addition to the turmeric in the smoothie being anti-inflammatory, I use a blend of turmeric that also contains collagen. I get mine through Live24K.

I’m sure you’ve heard of collagen but maybe you don’t quite know what it is. Collagen is a protein that already exists in our body’s make-up. Collagen contains glycine which is an amino acid with proven anti-inflammatory effects. It is not only awesome to incorporate into your diet to promote gut health but it also helps with skin elasticity, because as we age our body’s produce less of it!

Ingredients
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 cup of milk of your choice (I usually use almond milk)
  • 1 tsp matcha
  • 1 tsp turmeric collagen blend (from Live24K)
  • 6 ice cubes
Instructions
  1. Add ice cubes, banana, matcha, turmeric, and milk into a blender
  2. Enjoy!

This super easy smoothie is ideal to getting a boost of anti-inflammation and energy from the matcha. Let me know if you  try it out!
