Class Review: TRX Intro at Evolution Fitness Los Angeles

Sometimes it can be fun to have friends on opposite sides of the world (aka Westside vs Eastside in LA :P). I got the opportunity to meet up with one of my faves, Laurianne, and we checked out an intro to TRX bands class at Evolution Fitness.

Class: Really great full body resistance class! It was 50 minutes of hitting every major muscle group. There are moves you can do with the TRX band for legs/booty (i.e. squats on squats), arms/back (i.e. the picture above :)), and a lot of plank holds where you put your feet in the straps and hold either on your forearms or hands for what seemed like a really long time (but was actually only a minute). An added benefit to this class was that they incorporated foam rolling and stretching out at the end. Stretching is the one thing that I really do not do enough of. Sometimes my body can feel so tight after all of these different workouts and sometimes in classes, due to limited time, the trainers can rush through the stretch at the end. It was really great and appreciated that, because this gym is focused on physical therapy, they really value to put in the time and effort to teach us how to appropriately foam roll.

No pain, no gain: Don’t let the name of the class fool you – while it is an intro class, you will still get a great burn and workout! I think my body just operates very efficiently because I needed a towel to wipe off sweat 🙂

Parking: There is tons of street parking and there is also a mini lot across the street that you can use that is reserved for the gym.

Tips: The gym is not in a really “happening” location so you’ll have to drive a couple minutes away to get a bite to eat or coffee.
