Where to Purchase Non-Medical Grade Face Masks For You And Others

April 5, 2020

by: The Dimple Life

Well, some how we are here where this is an actual blog post. I know the world has been so chaotic but I was reminded today that we can only control, what we can control. It sounds so simple but it was a much needed reminder for me. We cannot control what happens in the environment around us but what we can do is be vigilant with our safety precautions and we should feel confident with that.

What has always been my priority with this community is to encourage healthy wellness practices for everyone here. During this global crisis, please do what is within your control – wash your hands, stay at home, and when you are out please wear a non-medical grade face covering. This is now the recommended approach from the CDC. If you also happen to have access to a N95 mask please donate it to our frontline healthcare workers who need it to protect themselves as they are severely under protected. Mask Match will match your N95 mask to a healthcare worker who is in need of crucial personal protective equipment.

While our government is not yet fully prepared for the exponential increase in COVID-19 cases across the country, we need to do what we can and keep ourselves and our community healthy. There are so many wonderful companies who have risen to this unprecedented time and have transformed their production facilities into making masks for healthcare workers and for the general public. Below are a few companies I have discovered. Keep scrolling to see where to purchase non-medical grade face masks. I will continue to update this post as I learn about them!

Hedley & Bennett: This company usually produces high quality aprons and chef wear for restaurants across the country. Now they produce masks. With each mask purchased, one mask will be donated to a healthcare worker.

Hey, @ellenmariebennett here- wanted to check in with you guys and say thank you for your support … what a sh*t storm of a time… I hope you’re hanging in there and staying safe… these last 10 days have been the most surreal days of not only my life but of our teams’ and our communities- here’s a little update on where were at and what’s gotten done so far – Almost 2 weeks ago amidst chaos, we converted our entire factory to solely focus on face masks because @nygovcuomo made the ask. We committed ourselves to the task and set up a 1 for 1 model online to be able to donate to frontline workers immediately. Since then with your help, we have been able to make over 65,000 masks to be donated but the reality is, this is just the beginning. From @childrensla getting 4,000 masks in LA to Brownsville Hospital in Brooklyn getting 5,000, to Cedar Sinai, @shrinershospitals and many others, we couldn’t stop there… so we teamed up with @wckitchen @chefjoseandres last week and have already started distributing donated masks through them too ⛑❤️⚡️. This is making a national impact in a really real way and YOU GUYS ARE MAKING THIS HAPPEN. Thank you for spreading the message, reposting your masks, connecting us with hospitals and being an insanely supportive community. Thank you to my team who is working on the frontlines every day in LA to get these masks made and delivered and to the over 120 sewers making this all come to life. It takes a village and this village has a lot of work ahead of us ⛑❤️. Let’s keep waking up and fighting together #apronsquad #wakeupandfight Also, if you know of a hospital or organization that needs donated masks, please have them submit a donation request directly on our website www.hedleyandbennett.com ????// ????@tessandted

KES: Sustainable washable cotton face mask. For every mask purchased, one mask will be donated to a healthcare worker.

Ripley Rader: They have a buy 1, give 2 program which will give 2 masks to healthcare workers. They also have fun designs using sequins (for adults and kids!) to give you some joy on those socially distanced walks.

My mask challenge that started last weekend (where I personally made 100 masks in 2 days to donate) was and continues to be an incredible success story! I’ve been blown away by the amount of nurses and healthcare workers who’ve reached out to me in desperate need of these masks. In order to keep providing for those most deserving, we’ve introduced the LOOK GOOD DO GOOD mask. This allows us to make many, many more masks and provide work to our family-owned factory and their employees. You can purchase masks with our BUY 1 – GIVE 2 option! For every mask sold, 2 cloth masks go to at-risk patients and healthcare workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis. *NOTE: Our masks (both sequin and cloth) are not substitutes for the N95 surgical masks, however provide another line of defense to the virus.

Reformation: They are currently sold out but they are taking a waitlist! Once they have stock, they are offering 5 non-medical grade masks in each pack.

Gold Sheep Clothing: With each order that includes a sweatshirt, 5 Goldsheep manufactured masks will be donated to non-clinical healthcare workers at local hospitals, shelters, and other life-saving facilities.

Modulare: They are selling organic cotton masks. With your purchase, they will be donating proceeds to fund and procure crucial PPE for those that need them.

Tortoise and Hare Clothing: 25% of all sales will be used to provide local non-profits cloth masks.

Be Silly Project: This company is doing daily mask drop-offs in Minnesota. Buy one and two masks will be produced and donated to healthcare workers in need. 100% of proceeds go to making masks for hospitals and organizations experiencing shortages.

Please note that each of these masks are non-medical grade, thus requiring a separate filter. Think Crucial produces filters you can purchase for any mask. The good thing about filters is that you can actually make your own. Here is an IGTV tutorial on how to make your own filter.
