Her credibility is highly backed by education, including User Experience Design Immersive from General Assembly, Copywriting Certification from San Diego Copywriting Portfolio School and holds a Marketing degree from Rutgers University.  She also routinely attends workshops and conferences within the design and tech space.

What was your last regular job?

I was a Client Services Manager at an ad tech company called Kargo.

Where have you traveled?

Since quitting my corporate job, I lived in Canggu, Bali for 4 months and traveled to Canada (Vancouver), Singapore, Australia (Sydney), Hawaii and Mexico (Sayulita).  I seek out any place with good waves and wifi!

What made you want to pursue a nomadic lifestyle?

The freedom and fulfillment that comes from actually LIVING.

How do you currently support yourself?

I own a creative design studio called Salt + Soul Collective.  We help conscious lifestyle and wellness brands grow on auto-pilot and reclaim their time through strategically designed websites, branding, and social media.

Do you have any online training courses that you recommend?

Yes – any course from General Assembly.  Their UX Design course is what jumpstarted my trajectory into the digital nomad lifestyle.  I also recently took a Case Study + Proposal Course from The Futur that I found really valuable.

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?

To take people’s opinions about your choices with a grain of salt.

What are the hardest things you find about working remotely?

Building and refining your own structure – recognizing when something isn’t working and when to make necessary changes, even if that means temporary discomfort.

5 essentials that I always pack - Emily Demichele

How do you envision your life in 5 years?

I envision it is filled with: leadership, positivity, happiness, fulfillment, abundance, creativity, love, trust and prosperity

How do you balance your work and travel?

I set goals for where and when I want to travel next.  It acts as a motivation to work harder, book more projects, incentivizes me to save and helps me focus on the larger picture for the moments when I’m not traveling.  It also acts as a reassuring reminder of why I started down this path for freedom and fulfillment, especially during the bleh moments.

What destinations are on your wish list?

Taghazout, Morocco; Portugal; Guatemala

How do you stay in shape while traveling?

Ha, it’s so easy!  I’m usually in the best shape when traveling.  I surf, take yoga classes or go on beach runs.  These activities are also the best way to meet like-minded people.

What techniques do you use to stay focused/productive while working remotely?

I keep a strict working hours schedule – otherwise, I’m all over the place.  I find when I give myself “unlimited time” to work on a project, I’m the least productive.  However, when I block off a distinct amount of time to solely work on a project (no distractions, social media, etc.) I’ll knock it out and give it my undivided attention.

What goals do you hope to achieve in 2020?

I strive to create a collectiveness between design and business while removing the duality between the two.  My goal is to help my clients reach their greatest business goals through strategic creative design.  In terms of travel, I hope to check Morocco off my list next!
